When (or if, at this rate) Clay Soldiers Mod is updated to 1.6.4 and up, that'd be a cool one. Just something fun to play around with.

So this occurred to me out of the blue the other day as a way to spice up the server. Once the server is out of Beta and becomes more popular we should have like a week or a couple days declared as a Warring Players Period :p. Basically the map is backed up and then all claims are suspended, nukes or whatever unbanned, and we can form bands or ffa and try to take over the WIP city, monasteries (looking at you Nixonites), other bases, the map, etc. Of course after the Warring Players Period, the map rolls back to right before it began.

This is maybe a bit more far off but it would be cool to have some measure of conquest, like flags or idk something and whichever team or person captures the most assets gets a reward.

Sounds like fun, Idon! We were already planning a period of anarchy on a copy of the map eventually, but adding some objective would definitely make it cooler.

So I had another idea that was inspired by Recon's donation for a base. Right now the donation shop is just items and ranks. What if the server also sold prebuilt buildings? To start with you could buy small townhouse or rural house for 1-2$, rural or townhouse mansion for 4-5$, factory for 10$, etc, etc. The most expensive thing you could buy would be the starship enterprise for like 40-60$ (Idk what is actually on the enterprise so that estimate might be off) ;P. The houses would be fully furnished, possibly with functional redstone lighting. Factories would also be furnished but obviously not to the extent as houses, perhaps with like an office and catwalk. You could progressively add more choices and you could have the server city showcase each design. The possibilities are endless :o.

So obviously I have been MIA for awhile so I don't really know what the plan is for the server. I just been thinking though, it would be really really fun if we eased up on the protections a bit. Maybe incorporate like a faction system where territory can be attacked? I mean I think the community we have is friendly enough to not take it too far and it would add an extra element to gameplay imo. Would also make defenses much more interesting. Because currently everyone in the community can easily thrive without hindrance. I mean presently there really isn't like a challenge to playing. Obviously blightfall is a step in the right direction by giving the game a purpose and all but factions and territory squabbles would add many extra layers of gameplay

Welcome back to the community (for the 20th time) Idon! PC, mielle, and I were just saying it was about time for your return, based on your usual cycle of leaving and coming back. :p We used to have a factions-like system, but its plugin, SimpleClans, no longer works in 1.7.10. Additionally, last I checked, the Factions plugin itself used polygon borders and made you completely guess at where they were, which would make using it extremely annoying. Do you think you could research a good factions plugin for us? (Or find out if the Factions plugin is capable of showing its borders ingame?)

Thanks, I did some research on Factions plugin. The claiming seems to be chunk-based from what I can tell and they added a /f seechunk command which I think allows you to view perms but I would need to investigate that. If worst comes to worst I don't think it would be TOO hard to code in a system similar to our present perms mod where it shows blocks representing the corners on the client-side. Since the territory is chunk-based you could just add something like if(chunk.claimed() == true && chunk.faction == player_clan) {add glowstone to each corner of chunk (clientside obviously)}
if(chunk.claimed() == true && chunk.faction() != player_clan) {add netherrack to each corner of chunk}
or something along those lines...

Good research. Keep investigating. Maybe someone made an add-on plugin or something to help see borders.
