Star Trek Mod Ideas

Hello Everyone,

If you don't know about it already, Brycey and me are making a Star Trek themed mod. (With TheCheeseMan as texturer)
If you have good ideas for the mod, please post them here, so we can have a look at them.
Please only post serious stuff, unserious replies will be deleted.

I hope you have cool ideas.

What about something along the lines of a variety of uniforms based off of Star Trek? Perhaps implement some way to wear them "over" your current armor, or just as armor itself. Might just set the mood a bit better. Or, perhaps, a tricorder of some description that works as a multipurpose tool. It could have functions like scanning for nearby ore, checking health on an entity, locating nearest biome of a specific type, and so on.

I was thinking of your armor suggestion, adk, and I thought it would be cool to implement a social armor slot usable by more than just our own uniforms.

In addition, I had the idea for sliding doors like in Star Trek. We could have ones from all different sections of a starship, and ones that take up more than the usual 2 blocks. With sounds from Star Trek, custom animations, and custom textures, we could really have some fun!

I feel with a modpack like this and all these cool looking armors, a social slot would be awesome. Like... Even just the Crimson Cult Robes. Those look pretty fresh on me, if I do say so myself. :)

I love the idea of custom uniforms/outfits. I think it would really change the dynamic of the server!

The tricorder idea sounds extremely useful. If several features of the server (player/mob stats, item information, ect.) we're masked unless the tricorder was in your inventory, that could be an easy way to implement it.

You could do the same thing with a communicator badge. It could alert (communicator noise) you when your name is said in chat, or when player request something of you (tp requests).

I think hand and rifle phasers are already being implemented, but other star trek weaponry would be fun to play with (klingon weapons).

you may want to create new blocks for all these items, but I would petition that only vanilla materials be used. That way the mod can be included into the server without needed a new world generated.

If we do want to include new materials, we'll need to implement retrogen, which will do a sweep of our world and apply our ore generation rules to the remaining stone.

Thanks for all your feedback,

The idea of a social armour slot would be very cool, but that might be very difficult to implement, we'll have to wait to see.
The tricoder idea sounds very doable (until a problem occurs, lets hope not).
Some weapons are already being implemented, we already have a phaser that can already 'harm' entities.
And I atleast am not planning on ores, I would prefer something like anti-matter collectors or something, I already got some cool ideas on that ;).

Engineering Systems which would include:
-Master Systems display console (computer that monitors warp core/warp engines)
-Matter/antimatter reaction assembly (this should work similar to the nuclear generator in IC2)

Sitting Options nobody should have to sit on wooden stairs in a starship
-chairs (made from wool that have iconic color options reflecting Star Trek)

Transporter self explaining I hope
-This could include some of the hidden features of the transporter (ie: pattern buffer)

Replicator This may be unnecessary depending on the version of Star Trek that is being used as a base for the mod and I do believe that it is JJ Abrams version which does not have replicators because it is based around the 2200s.

Hydroponics Compact fast and mass production of food

Intelligent mobs I think that if there were Klingons or some hostile mob in the game along that sort that it would make the game more enjoyable. They could even be villagers but more dangerous with a redesigned village to look like a Klingon colony.

Lights Lighting system that is similar to Star Trek lighting

Just wondering, is this going to be a mod that will be added to the Galaxy-Craft modpack because if it is then I'm not still not going to be able to be part of the server in any way because I can't get on the server without experiencing tremendous amounts of glitches and lag from my end. However, if it is going to be the only mod on the server (with the exception of IC2 and redpower and others along those lines) then I will once again be an active member on the server unless there is any more of that magical witchcraft stuff.

I just thought it would be cool to have star trek doors where when you walk toward them they open automatically complete with sound effect and all. :p
